Our LUXURY SERIES soaps are artsy with swirls and designs of natural ingredients, scented with essential oils and natural decorations on top. A feast for all the senses. The soaps on this series have a band around them leaving the beautiful tops to show.
The SIMPLE SKIN CARESERIES is simple and gentle with few, simple ingredients. Some are infused with real botanicals but no essential oils, some have honey, charcoal, salt, matcha, etc. Basically unscented but may smell like the honey on the milk and honey soap, etc. The soaps on this series are fully wrapped on designer paper.
Ingredients you can trust and pronounce. We use aloe in every bar.
We use only skin loving ingredients. Goat's milk produce a very creamy, rich lather in the soaps that leaves the skin fresh and silky smooth.
Our "SIMPLE SKIN CARE series" soaps are just that - simple, pure and gentle. "Olive Oil" bar is our simplest soap with just basic ingredients.
Mother Nature provides what we need to care for our bodies. We infuse our oils with skin loving botanicals or use distilled, high quality essential oils.
Ditch the chemicals, fragrances and possibly irritating ingredients in shaving creams and try our all natural creamy lather of the goat's milk soaps. They do not clog the razor and provide a really creamy, smooth surface for shaving. No need for aftershave either and they last a long time saving you money. Give them a try!
All our bars are made with over 50% olive oil, fresh aloe and 100% of the liquid used is goat's milk which is impossible to find in commercial bars. Our bars are larger than most so last longer, check it out. Handmade/handcut in very small batches. Weight may vary slightly because of this but all over 5 oz.
We use high quality essential oils in our Luxury Soaps Series for their natural, soothing scents from calming lavender and chamomile to invigorating and uplifting citrus and refreshing peppermint essential oils, a feast for the soul. Essential oils are pure distillations of leaves or flowers.
*We infuse some of our Simple Skin Care Soaps Series with simple ingredients and botanicals like calendula petals, green tea, chamomille flowers, etc. These soaps don't have essential oils.
I started creating the soaps over 20 years ago in 2003 from a personal need as I was suffering from rosacea which has cleared now for many years. After much extensive research and frustration trying to find products with safe ingredients, my journey lead me to make soaps with ingredients I could control and trust. I wanted to share that feeling of empowerment with friends and family and eventually opened a brick and mortar store in CA, The Painted Soapery.(now closed) now made in Clermont, FL.
Helping other people feel in control of what they use in their daily shower brings me immense pleasure. I disclosed all ingredients so you can be empowered to make decisions that could affect your health. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
I believe that many of the health issues we experience can be avoided or improved by eliminating many of the chemical products we use on our daily care routine based on personal experience. What you don't put on your body is as important as what you do. Finding natural alternatives that work is a worthy journey.
Have a Spa day everyday!
Our artisan soaps are handcrafted in small batches with high quality oils, botanical extracts, spices, clays, aloe, goat's milk and essential oils. They do not contain any synthetic fragrances, phthalates, colorants, micas, melt and pour bases, sulfates nor preservatives. We mix the goat's milk , lye and oils until they trace, add spices, herbs, clays and/or essential oils and then pour the mix in molds creating different designs. We freeze and then refrigerate the soaps to suppress the gel phase to control the color of the goat's milk. After 24+ hours, the soap is removed from the mold and the big reveal occurs, my favorite part. The soap is then hand cut into bars and stamped then left to cure/dry for 4 to 6 weeks before it can be used. We then inspect each bar and dress them up for their trip "home".
Is there lye in my soap?
The art of soap making involves using fats/oils, water and sodium hydroxide (caustic soda = NAOH = lye) which is created by running electricity on salt water 2Na + H2O + 2e = H2 & 2NaOH. The caustic properties of the lye are eliminated during the soap making process, leaving no lye in the final product becoming just 3 parts soap and 1 part glycerin. Lye or potassium hydroxide are needed in order to make true soap.
Lye is also used to prepare olives, peeling of fruits and vegetables, chocolate and cocoa processing, soft drinks processing, thickening of ice cream, hominy, pretzels, lye rolls, century eggs and noodles. Lye also occurs in nature and can be produced by filtering water through hardwood ashes.
We "superfat our soaps - this means that we use more oils than it is needed to utilize all the lye in the process, leaving additional oil remaining in the final product.
What is saponification/saponified? When a lye and water solution is mixed with oils, SAPONIFICATION takes place, which is the chemical reaction which splits natural fats/oil into fatty acids and glycerin producing an alkali salt of 3 parts soap and 1 part glycerin. The glycerin produced in commercial bars is sometimes extracted to be used in other beauty products, they are often made with synthetic chemicals, surfactants and petroleum by products so they cannot legally be labeled soap as they are more of a detergent and they are then labeled "cleansing bars or beauty bars".
TIP
Make your handcrafted SOAPS LAST MUCH LONGER!
Here is the why and the how.
WHY: Pure soap like the ones I make are 3 parts soaps and one part glycerin which is created during saponification, the soap making process. All the glycerin created is retained in our soaps. Commercial "cleansing/beauty bars" (have to love a marketing strategy...) cannot be legally labeled soap because they alter the process to extract the glycerin and most have added synthetic chemicals. They then sell the glycerin and use it on other products as it is lucrative but the wonderful emollient benefits of the glycerin on the skin are removed. Due to the emollient properties of glycerin they will absorb the water readily. Have you ever left an artisan bar of soap in a puddle of water after showering to come back and find a mushy mess?
HOW: You can make your precious bar of pure soap last a long time if you care for it properly.
1. Don't leave it sitting near splashing water in the shower. Put it in a spot away from the shower splash when setting it aside and not using it during your shower.
2. Sit your soap on a fully draining soap dish, a cut piece of loofah or even a body brush with the bristles up where you can set your soap. You can even use one of those nifty head massagers for shampooing they sell now.
3. You can sit your soap on the fully draining item standing up vs flat on its side. This will reduce the surface of soap that touches the container helping it dry faster between uses.
4. The soaps produce a lot of creamy lather, if you rub your soap on a towel or loofah pad, be gentle, you need less than you think. This process of course will wear out you soap faster but I get it, its great to exfoliate. You can try applying the soap to your skin instead of the loofah or towel and then using the exfoliating brush, etc.
Our bars are larger than regular bars at around 5.5 ounces and one bar last me about 6 weeks sometimes showering 2x a day (Florida humidity is crazy.)
I hope all this info is helpful. Enjoy your soaps and have a Spa Day everyday!
Recipe for a "self care" shower or bath:
Be present, in the moment, don't think about other things, think about how the water feels as it splashes on your face, your head and your back and let your worries run down the drain. Feel the creamy lather caressing your skin, take a deep breath and relax. This is your "ME" time. Take care of yourself. Enjoy!
Sending you my love.
